around me and the story they told, and I would spend all night in the darkroom more for the enjoyment than what
an assignment required. What interested me then is much the same as what drives me today: finding an image
that captures a moment, tells a story and evokes an emotion.
More recently, I have dedicated greater focus and time on this passion of photography - especially wildlife photography.
I love the entire process - the time in the field, learning an animal's behavior and anticipating what might happen,
maneuvering to be in the best position - and occasionally being in the right place when an extraordinary moment unfolds.
I'm especially interested in photographing animals within their environments to capture images that tell a story of
their interaction with nature and make the viewer pause, look, feel and want to understand more.
My work also includes landscapes and street photography. In a way, street photography of people is similar to wildlife in capturing an interesting moment in time and the composition of the environment surrounding it. Most recently, I've returned to shooting 35mm black and white film to best capture light, texture and storytelling that first drew me to photography. I am also enjoying the pure "analogue" process of it all and how there is something almost romantic about film images.
Much of my time now is spent traveling, studying, and photographing wildlife and wild places. I hope these photographs
do more than document what I have seen. At their best, I hope they convey something of what it felt like to be there
and encourage an appreciation for the animals, people and places with which we share our world.
